Meet the Artist

I am a Perth calligrapher and also the founder of By Sophie Rach Calligraphy. This little corner of my site is where I share a little bit about my calligraphy journey with you. Enjoy your stay!

When I was young, I often created handmade cards and artwork, as every young child does.

I did less of that as I grew older, and definitely a whole lot less when the computer and technology became mainstream. But every once in a while, I would attempt to create my own pieces for my room’s decor, because the mass-produced, factory-printed pieces were just not quite right enough for me.

Then in 2016, I discovered calligraphy. I was fascinated by how one small change in a loop or line could change the sentiments a piece of writing conveyed. With just a pen and blank paper, the possibilities of what we can create are limitless.

That year, I picked up the pointed pen. I spent hours each day practicing, experimenting with different tools and surfaces, refining my style in the process. I often lost track of time while creating.

There was always an insatiable desire within me to create something that is uniquely mine. It was not long before I started including calligraphy with my gifts to others. I loved seeing my friends’ faces light up whenever they saw their names in calligraphy on the gift tags!

In 2017, I started this studio, with the hope that I can channel my love for calligraphy to helping you create what would be uniquely and forever yours.

Today, By Sophie Rach Calligraphy provides services across Western Australia and beyond. I specialise in brand activations and live events doing luxury calligraphy and hand engraving.
